A message for 2022 from Dai Ogborn – BFoC Chairman

Dear Music Lover

I am conscious that the most recent item of news on this website contains the poster which advertised the BFoC concert in the Anvil on 7th March 2020.

What a magnificent concert that was. I do wonder how many of those singers, instrumentalists and audience members appreciated it would be such a long time before we would once again be able to come together to entertain and to be entertained.

It was then such a heart-warming occasion to be part of the Mayor’s splendid Christmas Carol Service in St Michael’s Church in December 2021, with the chorus consisting of the wonderful singers in membership of BFoC.  The Church was packed with not a seat spare.  I have since learned that more than twenty folk had, sadly, to be turned away on the night.  It proved to me that so many people want to get back to both making and supporting the music.

How good it is that we can now sing together again. Choirs across the Borough of Basingstoke are meeting together to polish up old songs and to learn new choral items ready to perform at future concerts. Do please have a look at the ‘Our Events’ tab and make a note of these dates in your diary.

Other opportunities are now presenting themselves with the many planned activities to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. If your BFoC choir has an event which is not listed on this website please do make use of the ‘Contact Us’ tab at the top of this screen and let us know about it. Informing us of such events has two very helpful outcomes, firstly we can help avoid clashing and secondly it gives individuals the opportunity to come out and support.

More details and more events will be added as plans get refined, so do bookmark the page https://bfoc.co.uk/our-events/ and keep coming back to it to discover when and where you can be entertained by live music.

Kind regards

Dai Ogborn
