Robert T Elliot is musical director for Basingstoke Ladies Choir

Rob grew up in South Wales as part of a musical family.  He conducted the Massed Male Choirs art the Welsh National Eisteddfod at the age of only 21 and the English National Symphony Orchestra at the Wiltshire Music Festival in 1999.  Rob is a former Trombonist of the Band of the 3rd Battalion Royal Regiment of Wales and former conductor of four Male Choirs in England and Wales.  He has performed in a host of venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Cardiff Castle, The NEC and Wembley, as well as the Cathedrals of Llandaff, Westminster and Southwark.  Rob has also conducted the community singing and the National Anthems on several occasions at Twickenham and his own Male Chorus performed at all the Games there last autumn for the Rugby World Cup.

Rob has adjudicated at many festivals and competitions including The National Choral Festival in Ireland, Isle of Man Festival of Choirs, The Northern Ireland Festival of Choirs, the Cornwall International Male Choral Competition, The North Wales Choral Festival, Barnardo’s National School Choir Competition at The Barbican and The Royal Festival Hall in London and The Manchester Amateur Choral Compo0etition at the Royal Northern College of Music.

Rob is now Festival Director of the World’s largest Male Choir Festival (over 70 Male Choirs taking part last year) which is held in Cornwall and he is also continuing to expand on his choral workshops, adjudicating and coaching roles.

BLC is the first Ladies’ Choir Rob has taken on permanently, although he has had a lot of experience conducting female choirs and groups both in the UK and the USA.  He is looking forward to a long and happy association with them.
